Feng Shui
Feng Shui, pronounced as ‘Fung Shoy’ is an ancient Chinese system, derived from knowledge over 2000 years old, which examines the natural and ‘built’ environment.
Literally meaning wind and water, the world of Feng Shui is combination of ancient Chinese mathematics, interior design, architecture and simple rules of good housekeeping. It is a popular practice that is being applied to home and work places in order to create a balanced environment.
We as Feng Shui practitioners will map the chi that flows through your home and land. In order to be happy and healthy, we will teach you how to live in harmony with nature and your environment, and with the universal energies that are present all around us. Chi exists everywhere, in every living thing—even in things that most people wouldn't consider animate, such as our homes, the land, and the sky.
Chi is the life force or vital energy of the universe, the Divine breath or spirit that quickens matter. Without chi, life as we know it could not exist.
The goal of Feng Shui is to manipulate chi so that it flows through an environment in a balanced, unhampered manner. 'Feng Shui' involves arranging your living or working space in certain ways to bring peace and harmony into your life. To achieve this objective, we, as Feng Shui practitioners, employ a variety of techniques known as "cures", which are both practical and esoteric. Some of the most common cures include the use of crystals, arranging furniture in comfortable configurations, clearing away clutter, and balancing yin and yang forces through the use of plants, minerals, colour, light, sound, and so on.
Within the realms of Feng Shui, the mind is the most important factor. Your intention and attitude influence the success or failure of whatever practices you implement. The principles of Feng Shui work on the understanding that the Earth has both positive and negative energy lines that flow all the time. We help you to take advantage of good energy and deflect negative energy, working with these principles.
Feng means Wind and Shui means Water. It is all about harnessing the positive energy that flows within the Earth. When these elements of Nature are in harmony, you will definitely prosper in everything that affects you. Feng Shui lets us work efficiently, comfortably and successfully by following the patterns of nature. Plants are especially great for your health area. The best plants to use are ones with healthy, green, rounded leaves. Wind chimes are excellent for moving the energy around in a room. They enhance areas, and repel negative energy and increase good chi in two ways: sound and movement, so they are very good to use in any area of the room.
Think of yourself as a boat. It is simply easier and more effective to sail with the current and wind rather than against it. If you like pictures of water, a gentle brook will give more peaceful energy than a scene of huge crashing waves. Pay attention to the symbolism when choosing water pictures - calm waters bring calm activity; turbulent waters can bring chaos. This idea is one of the basic concepts of Feng Shui. It is based on a clear and simple approach to life.
Now imagine your house as an extension of yourself, like a shirt that you can wear. If you were to wear a shirt that was too tight around the collar you would feel very uncomfortable and restricted in your movements. In order for you to function well and effectively, the Feng Shui principle requires that your house is designed to fit your body comfortably, just like a shirt!
There are many aspects to understanding and designing with Feng Shui. How the combinations of interior and exterior space, light, sounds, smells, materials, furniture arrangement, etc. affect your mental and physical energy. Feng Shui helps one on the path to spiritual growth and healing. It will help you focus on your goals and identify target areas and there are some quick and easy things you can do right away. There is a growing need in all of us, from time to time, to learn more about ourselves, and our future. Empower and nurture yourself with Feng Shui.
